COMPULSIVE LIARBILITY!

Lie to my friends,
even to family.
Say what they wanna hear,
to get away from reality.

I hate it,
but can't help it.
Would it be better,
if my tongue I bit?

Lie even to myself,
so often I think it's real.
The truth hurts me too bad,
so much I cannot deal.

The truth is right there,
but I say something else.
Not sure as to why.
To protect others? Myself?

I say I don't need anyone,
but cry 'cause I'm alone.
Lies flow out of my mouth.
Truth can't find a home.

Lie to the one I love,
to whom I really care.
He doesn't even deserve it,
& I am not being fair.

I'm convinced that I don't deserve him,
& lie to set him free.
I just want him to be happy,
& maybe that means losing me.

Lieing, fibbing, withholding,
they all hurt just the same.
The person who's unknowing,
& yourself in shame!
