Wasteland
Copyright 2001
Written by James Edward Shields

Play for me sorrowed tune
Smoke rising in dance
Dust in air of that what once was
Silence halts in this place

Cold face stare laced rapid heartbeat
Ruin crawled about a hollow land
Flames torn eating the dirt
And the skies can only cry

We are born into this world alone, and we will die alone.  It is what we do between those times that matters.  This is where we leave our mark.

Great poem, very flowing in meaning to me.

well i enjoyed this read alot. reminds me of one of my poems called "escaping" with the brief flickers of words that trap people into the meaning of it all. love it and keep it up.

I'm a dying romantic and when i can no longer write i can no longer live -Jeremiah Johnson-

Whoa!  This was quite well-written.  I especially liked your second stanza,

"
Cold face stare laced rapid heartbeat
Ruin crawled about a hollow land
Flames torn eating the dirt
And the skies can only cry
"

"If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die, I must simply laugh"

Thank you, it was heavily inspired.
