Loudly shattering my dreams,
a sound I know too well.
The heavy tread, often seems,
forever in my mind to dwell.

The footsteps of a vicious foe,
undefeated, standing tall,
telling me where I should go.
Knowing I am in his thrall.

This monster's name, who makes me fear?
And forces me to be
ever doing what he wills, a tear
flows from me, you shall see.

Inescapable he seems,
His name you'll recognize,
For it is Fate, and in my dreams,
I'm locked forever, in his eyes.

It seems my life is his playtoy,
and he a cruel child.
Who breaks me then, like a little boy,
tosses me aside.

Sad and troubled is my life,
A pathetic, lonely fool,
Forgive this verse, ignore my strife,
my pen is but a tool.

A tool which I have overused,
and now must put aside.
For having left you bored, confused,
I may say I've tried.

Tried and failed, perhaps they'll say,
a hundred years from now,
Or maybe no one cares, or they
won't remember anyhow.

Whatever I now choose to do,
the choice is not my own.
Fate has discarded me, it's true,
yet like a dog and bone,

He always knows just where I am,
And should the want arise,
He'll dig me up, to break again,
I should not be surprised.

Hey, stop that, somehow we will become fates' master - Somehow. Just persevere. This was so touching to me, and I honestly feel the same, but I have turned over a new resolve to NOT let it beat me into submission.
Peace

Ahh, wonderful, you have put a face to fate as I do to Lust, Sorrow, and Mercy...and you have succeeded well I must add.

"Fate always stands upon your shoulder
looking down with contempt
and at times emotions much colder...
Pat him gently
and soothe him easy
for you dear dream caster
will some day be his master...."

Until...ali

I enjoyed this piece.  You have written this from your soul, which brings it to life.  Nice job.

Thank you.  sadly, there will be few poems like this one... I generally don't write about fate being my master, only when I'm depressed.  My other poems will suffice, I suppose....
