The Shores of Alone

0 posted 2001-10-29 09:21 AM

So cold and yet so burning hot
my heart so bold yet so afraid
dependent on your every whim
to justify the love we've made.

You're not with me, not totally
I'd much prefer denial there
no way to make you love me more
no matter how  my soul does care.

Still pieces of your heart come through
amidst the worry and the stress
I know we're worth it, but do you?
I wonder, can we stand this test?

If letting go is what you need
I have to find a way to deal
with agony of hearts' destruct
and tolerate the pain I feel.

Just one more time I say to you
We're worth it so in every way
and in your heart you know it too
because through all, some love has stayed.

Perhaps you cannot offer me
the love which poets write about
but any piece of it you bring
is so much better than without.

Let me take it, the smallest crumbs
and mold them into solid food
take shreds of love you give to me
and hold them close, let naught intrude.

Ok, my love, this may be it
you may have one last chance to show
before my heart dies of this pain
and nowhere left for us to go..

(It's ok, I am not living this anymore..letting go!)

And letting go seems to be very appropriate...don't worry love still sticks around when you let go...that is if it was ever there in the first place...James

It's a shame to have lived it at all, my friend.  Good to know you're turning loose now, moving on...

Guess I've been lucky in the past 27 years of being with one woman - even with all our disagreements, spats (subtle word that) etc,,
we have continued to agree on one thing...we have been good for one another, are good friends and have devoted too much time and effort to this marriage to just throw it all away (besides, who wants to train another woman...or husband after all this time??)

And, we've just gotten our kids grown and can finally be "us" again.  Gee, if she suddenly realizes what she has in me, I just may be single again tomorrow.  You be available then...

Kidding Moon - we're growing in years and I'll stick with her to the end...I signed on for the long haul and there's more to that than transcient love - love encompasses so much more than many today realize, and you, my friend I think know that, so hang in there - your day will come, it always does for souls like yours.

Very well written. Good to hear you're not living it anymore.  I know how tough it can be.  Keep writing.
