INNOCENCE

Where was I,
when life was perceived simple?
When innocence,
was a smile with a dimple.
Where everyday,
felt like Saturday afternoon.
Care-free & comfortable,
far from any doom.
Did I miss it somehow?
Skip past it all?
Fly to the future?
Walk down the wrong hall?
Did the sign say adulthood,
the one I couldn't read?
Did I choose the wrong path?
Plant the bad seed?
Was it my actions,
that turned it this way?
Something I did?
Something I failed to say?
How did it all fall,
on my tiny shoulders?
A million little pebbles,
rolled into the heaviest of boulders.
"It's not my fault!"
I try to convince,
but there's no other explanation,
for lost innocence!

LOVE ELMO

"A million little pebbles,
rolled into the heaviest of boulders."
This says it all, girl...wonderful writing here.

Don't care what people say
Just follow your own way
Don't give up and use the chance
To return to innocence.

Thanx guys--i know deep down it was never really my fault--i was so young--but I get that feeling every now & then that it could have been stopped or even prevented--who knows--LOVE ELMO

Ah yes, i can relate.  Wouldn't it be nice to have that childhood innocense again?  To look on everybody as friends, not think negatives about them, judging them etc.  Ahh the world would be a much better place if we could all retrain our innocense.
But nothing you did or didn't do let to this, it's just the sometimes stark realities of being an adult.  Trials are sent to try us etc...

*hugs*
