Sunsets and Sand

Soft sand
moving beneath my feet,
Leaving footprints behind me
only to be erased
by the tide,
reminding me
I am alone.
Your love,
behind me now,
is like those footprints
washed away by
the tide of time.
The setting sun
creates a fire
on the horizon.
Slowly burning out
the embers
never to be
rekindled
like a love gone cold.
The distance between us
widens
until you are no longer
in my sight

or my heart.

Realizing someone we care about is no longer there for us is such a miserable time. You express it very well in this piece.

The distance between us
widens
until you are no longer
in my sight

I love that ending

Dee,

Found this hidden gem, kind of sad, but love the write.
It's late and I can't think of anything bright to say.

Sigh..tear..This brought out so many feelings I am living. Wonderful writing, and hope you are not too sad, as this implies.

Straight from the heart.  Beautifully written and expressed.  I feel the sand in my shoes as I write this.

Elmo, it is good to know that you are all here, a wonderful family. thanks.

Sandra, I wrote this while I was missing someone I love dearly but I am ok now. He's not out of my life, I just felt like he was.

Keith, Thank you for taking the time to read this. Oh and welcome to Passions.
