                    Darkness
How ironic that the blinding light brings eternal darkness, yet the darkness never renders up the light. That which is all brings nothing, and nothing offers nothing in return.
The void is present in the time of most need, yet the hand present to parent is a cold, crisp, dry, one.
In the beginning, there was darkness; in the end there will be darkness. Born into this world, dying, in the dark.
Leaving this world, dead, in the dark. So reliable is this unwanted friend; so intimidating.  This mystical being so often inciting our imagination into fear and terror.
Non-living, but breathing.  Breathing in the back of our minds.  Breathing on the back of our necks.
It’s inevitable danger willingly purged from consciousness, only to be recalled when face to face with this beast.
Though the speed of light is fast, the speed of darkness is faster.
Though light is present, darkness still waits at the edge. Waiting.  Waiting to return to you.  To caress you’re skin, and stalk your mind and soul.
