The marks upon my hand
Tell a grim and lowly tale
A tale of heartache and sorrow
The tale of a lonely shadow
Who no woman would love

I stand in judgement
Knowing my true destiny
A destiny of loneliness and sorrow
Waiting patiently for the verdict
The verdict for crimes unknown

The marks, my battle scars
Born of a cold and lonely blade
With each passing motion
Reliving each awful moment
The depression showing its might

Watching as the pale canvas
Slowly running over red
The lines coming more into view
I wipe away the vision of pain and suffering
Only to watch it return

Over time, the lines will fade
But soon they will return
As the birds return home in summertime
So will these marks of sadness
And they will never leave

I hope that one day soon
They will never return
So I may find peace knowing
That the sadness will not succeed me
That my heart and hand will show no scars

Fear destroys the mind, depression destroys the soul... only love and compassion may save you from death.

If I could only tell you how many times I have been there...and if you could only see the "tracks of my fears." I try not to look any more, but still they are there after all these years.

this is wonderfully written thank you for a good morning read with my coffee...a dose of my own reality with a bit of cream this morning!

I too have battle scars, as I am sure alot of us do.  Some may be in many different sizes, locations, and colors.  But yet we still have them.  You write wonderfully and I too hope one day the scars fade away for you.  Everyone deserves that.  Good luck, my Friend!
