CLINGING TO YOUTH!

Clinging to youth,
as the last strings fall away.
Stuck somewhere in the middle,
though wanting to hang back & stay.
Like a VCR fowarding fast.
Pause, slow motion, rewind,
not quite as easy to make it last.
Why can't we go back,
to when life was simple?
When a day felt like a week,
When we'd get up real early,
& leap to our feet.
When we had time to stop & laugh,
to smell a flower,
or watch some ants march past.
We're now too busy rushing,
getting into a crash,
where life may be taken,
in an instant, a flash.
So take your time now,
savor scenery as you drive by.
Don't forget to laugh,
& never be afraid to cry.
Don't lose the child at heart,
live as free as you please.
Go crazy, get silly,
hug all of the trees!!

The ending made me laugh! And I loved the part about the VCR - never thought about it that way... Clever comparison there!   I loved this... Keep it up!

Something we shall all relate to one day. I enjoyed this, thanks.

this is scary but you will enjoy being an adult some day. trust me, but that does not mean you can't be childish and have fun. enjoyed the poem.
