Adrift upon night's tideless sea, dark depths of melancholy,
Seeking out tempetuous ports, brazed vestibules of folly,
Unburied hopes of drifting dead, punctured lives of stinging sin,
Swells the howling chorus, o’er gulf of man's perdition.

My faith and trust are swept like straws, from grasp by tempest's woe,
As I devour the bitter ash, of soul's despair of haunting sorrow,
Dark and gloomy mausoleum, erected by death's loathsome lust,
Man's unperverted Ithuriel mask, conventions are by evil crushed.

Departed paths of vulgar sin, I walk in trackless stead,
In the canyons of mine fears, I shrink in vengeful dread,
Seeking solace deep within, chasms of impertinence,
In my lone and stricken soul, lays dim and dark existence.

Shrouded chambers of life’s formless haunts, recoil as shadows bleed,
Clouds of terror reach fingers out, dark spirits stalk; hell hath decreed.
With mournful soul and quivering limbs, touch on my lifeless breath,
Unrelenting desolation, stand face to face with sin and death.

Leafless trees hang low, over cold and silent grave,
Winter hath descended, soon will the land enslave,
Dark skies above foreboding, not yet a snowflake shed,
In grip of icy tentacle, lays touch of recent dead.

In a cold and shallow vault, lays low my fettered soul,
Echoes of a distant past, doth Thanatos extol,
Above the sword of Damocles, hangs by a tattered thread,
Dereft of faith in man and god, I seek the living dead.

Begone ye screams of silence, harbingers of pain,
Cloaked in isolation, you mock in harsh disdain,
My soul is torn asunder, I curse you God of Hell,
As you pierced my trouble soul, what horrors I befell.

You spoke of quiet solitude, to tempt me to your lair,
Then lanced me in my troubled heart, to depths of dark despair,
Nemesis, I beg of thee, rise up in righteous ire,
Protect from Tisiphone, from Hell's eternal fire.

With all my  voice I scream to you, protect me from the night,
Alas, in forlorn desperation, I journey to the light,
Banished to mind's coventry, I heed the demon's call,
Beckoned by the silent screams, I enter Dante's Hall.

Drawn into the vortex, I hope and pray to find,
Total absolution, illusions of the mind?
Drowning in disharmony, upon a tranquil sea,
Adrift upon the River Styx, am blind but yet I see.

Bowing to Mephistopheles, as Faust I sell my soul,
Unto the Fallen Angels, at last I cede control,
On bended knee I enter, the world of waking dreams,
Final absolution, farewell to silent screams.

Great employment of mythology here Tim! (although admittedly I am not familiar with ALL of it) I enjoyed the classic style and formal wording of this. I will be back to read this one again!!

I definately had a dictionary out on this one but I loved your use of words here. That is a talent within itself.   I enjoyed this read very much
