MY SOUL?

I long for strength; send me ten men
or one, a Knight in armour black
his sword of honour long and sleek
unsheathed and ready at my back.

A shadow known to me alone,
my heart skips beats, he feels me fall,
bold he steps into my soul
to make me as I was before.

Before I knew how sad the world,
how lies, deceit, so cruelly hurts,
then to smile and dry my tears
and kindly ask what have I learnt.

I can’t, I won’t, yet then I must
declare belief that evil lives;
a poison ivy growing wild
in fields of love I try to give.

Then my shadow Knight, my guide,
says with a smile, “Now you know,
that’s all you need - your heart is free,
follow where your soul must go.”

My soul, my soul?  She goes alone -
I know the dream that calls her home!

Thank you, Dee.  I don't get here as often as I'd like to - to read and comment and that makes me feel bad.  Thanks again!

Yes, "Ilph", you could be right - indeed, you could be "very" right!     Thanks for reading.
