I Came Here Alone, part II

How to construct a life from that?

from rejection before I could know what it was
from the disappointment of your voice before I could understand it

retold again and again as the introduction of a life
as the defining tale of two lives
ruined

so little said
so much destroyed

(who led you to believe that you were owed anything
anything at all
even a life?)

save your disrespect for whom it may be deserved
but not for me

I did nothing
I did nothing to you
mother

Wow!!
Part one framed the pain,
and part two,
pounds a 16d framing nail right through the reader's forehead.
