I sit at the round table again
Talking to myself
What is the use
Depression has found you again
I was hoping this time
I had it licked
Now its rising its ugly head

My natural instincts tell me

To retreat
To the dark
I have no energy to fight
The demon
Depletes me

I retreat into the dungeon of lonliness

I lie down upon my bed
Pulling  the covers over my head
My mind tells me
To escape
Forsake thy friends
For misery is contagious
Spare them the agony
Of thy expressionless face

I know "Depression" lies

I have heard his voice
So many times before
Yet he tells me those lies
Again and again
I listen not believing
But yet falling for them still

I slide down a slippery slope

He (depression) truly is a liar.
Your friends do want to listen.

Ohh...This is excellent...your struggle is clear..and to the author I'd say to SEEK FRIENDS..the true ones will want to listen.

Depression is certainly a struggle...and you've written a good portrayal of it...

...from a manic, eccentric, depresses person...this is a wonderful portral of the truth...Depression seems to be an ugly old man most of the time, but when he spins his wonderful silver tongued lies, he is beautiful...such a liar!!

Songbird, your friends speak the truth seek them out. When a thousand truths can't overwhelm the lie of depression seek out your friends. And if you need to hide, set a time limit on it.
Very real poem.
