"bitten"

when I first beheld
your Gothic beauty
black hair shimmered
like a raven's wing
in moonlight

your milky skin
waxed glowing
as if the moon herself
were trapped beneath
its pallid nakedness

your lips bled
a vivid red
like petals fallen
from the funerary rose
that lay across your breasts

I kissed your sleeping supplication
awakening nocturnal eyes

whirlpools of endless night
whose depths drown the universe
and bestow hypnotic peace

onyx windows of propitiation
concealing a sepulcher of souls

thus I was benighted
and seduction followed

as we made unhallowed love
droplets of  profane pleasure
flowed into rivers of rapture
denying fatal interment

then you quickened me
with an unholy addiction
and brought forth
my demon of perdition

I am the chosen convert
our bloods burn as one
my will is forsaken

I am betrothed to hunger
for the forbidden fruits
of condemnation

your lover
your savior
crying at your feet
for his eternal rest

This went so far over my head it hurt. I usually try to delve within your poetry a bit more than I usually do....but my wee little brain interpreted this to be of some biblical origin? No idea here coyote....I'm confoooozed. Help me out whenever you see fit, friend!

Thank you, Samantha.
This one was new ground for me.
Treading further and further into the darkness.
But, I enjoyed the writing of it very much!
Your appreciation means a lot.
I am so very pleased you liked it.

Thanks, Javier.
Here's a little insight for ya.
At your request of course. lol

On the surface this is a vampirical rendition, if you will, of a classic tale -"Sleeping Beauty".
The prince finally finds his beloved, and wakens her with a kiss, only to find she is numbered among "the children of the night". Yet for "the glory of love", he allows himself to be "turned".
However, there are other "deeper currents" here, as well. It parallels the fragility of our "human condition". Speaking to the temptations of forbidden love, the pleasures and addiction that occurs when we give in to them, and the guilt and self torment that always follows.
Even deeper, are the "religious undertones", (which btw you didn't miss, so give yourself some credit, O.K.?)
Which speak to the heart of a more timeless "human dilemma", for we are all creatures of combination, both spiritual and carnal, whose opposing forces are always struggling for possession of the soul.
the old Yin/Yang, Good/Evil, Adam & Eve thing.
Enough said? , and thanks for reading and asking, my friend. I appreciate your interest, and again your "wee little mind" deserves more credit than you give it.
