rose of pain and sorrow

How I want to feel your touch,
rose of the empty plain,
to know again the image of your flower,
to look again into the florets of your life.

Sweet rose, hold again your blades
against my skin.
Sweet thorns, dance again along the shades
of my grief.
Sweet fruit of pain and misery,
iridescent beauty of tears and light.

How I long to feel again
your cool petals in the blazing sun,
to gaze again into your whorl
of fascination grown from the barren desert,
to breathe again your sweet bouquet
against the bitter wind,
to taste again the nectar of your sight,
to know your life from death
again and again and again
today, tomorrow, and tomorrow.

Hold me, touch me,
help me live again,
Sweet rose, flower of grief, life,
death, pain and sorrow.

A beautiful wish for life. I liked the comparison of the rose to grief, life, death, pain and sorrow. Most only see the rose as love. This one touched me as I read some of my own history throughout.

great read. I, too liked how you brought out the other, darker side of such a beautiful flower. The rose is powerful in many symbolic ways and you captured this one nicely.

The rose,
Like the cactus flower,
protects herself with thorns.
We however,
impale ourselves,
on their beauty.

Very good, man.
I loved it.

with every rose there comes a thorn
and every night  rasies new dawn.
Loved your poem and the images it presented.
