Well meaning words are none the less just that , my friend , just that .
For I hear in their sugared tones the dischord of goodbye ,
and ice forms where heart's blood did flow 'till chilled unto the bone ,
Cold Comfort is a place I've known too well to ask you why .

Obsidian reflects where once a promised future lay .
Now stygian are thoughts your parting words have stripped and there ,
I see that old familiar place that beckons my return .
Cold Comfort wraps me in it's cloak against the world of care .

And I shall dwell here for a time 'till mem'ries frost receeds ,
amongst the darkened ashes of a fire died of neglect.
The words you kindly spoke perhaps for you fulfilled some need ,
but I've worn their cold comfort thousand-fold around my neck ,

and gazed into it's onyx depths and known it's truth once more .
There's no more comfort in the cold than was the time before .

Oh my goodness Doc! I've never seen you this dark before! Did you take the wrong pills? Can I make you happy by informing you our Andrew has posted in the Pub? Or are you beyond 'Stute salvation? Perhaps an extra hour in the rubber room will make you smile, or that special red straitjacket? Should I call for Nurse Crachet? Hmm... I'd tell you a dirty joke, but you know these walls have ears and 'Drew would colour me instead of his canvas if he'd find out... amazing how you manage to write good poetry while having a bad trip and you know what strikes me most? I think I comprehend what you're speaking of... scary thought though!

hello Dr. Moose ... a fine Sonnet with many twists and turns ... an enjoyable read and i'll read again.

A couple of oddities though:

"Cold Comfort wraps me in it's (its) cloak against the world of care."

"And I shall dwell here for a time 'till mem'ries (mem'ry's) frost receeds ,
amongst the darkened ashes of a fire died of neglect.
The words you kindly spoke perhaps for you fulfilled some need ,
but I've worn their cold comfort (a) thousand-fold around my neck ,

and gazed into it's (its) onyx depths and known it's (its) truth once more."

again, nice work.
