"No!" she screamed,
"Caleb 'tis all ok!"
"Control the beast within my love!"she begged him
As they untied her and carried her away.

Not many knew of his berserking,
Yet all had heard the rumours it's true,
Showing himself now would bring about his end,
Yet there was nothing else he could do!

They dragged her to the river,
Their favourite meeting place,
Condemned her as witch
As they slapped and punched her repeatedly in the face.

"Caleb, my love, be strong!" she begged him
"There is nothing you can do,
Do not hurt these innocent people,
Or your very freedom will be through!"

He felt the 'quickening' in his blood,
The hatred ready to burst forth,
He felt her pain and her fear,
As he argued with his own self worth.

To the water's edge they dragged her,
And grabbed her by the neck,
Deeming sentence to the devil's harlot,
Redeeming her twisted soul with her death.

They held her under the gently lapping stream,
He watched her struggle in vain,
Then she began to work a spell,
A spell for love and for freedom, and an end to all her pain.

She struggled valiantly and freed herself enough to get another lung full of air,
When Caleb felt a different rush so strong, yet he knew from where,
He collapsed right then with a last glance at his Lady Awen,
And awoke in the most beautiful green pasture with his lady love standing there.

The villagers couldn't believe the witch had disappeared from their murdering hands,
Her so called Berserker was gone too!
They searched the country high and low,
But never again did any mortal see those two.

Caleb and Awen awoke in the mystical land of Avalon,
Where mere mortals cannot get in nor even find,
Avalon, which man thinks is only a fairy tale,
Avalon, a link in the chain of time.

Their vows spoken they were now man and wife,
They could live together through all eternity,
They can love and raise a family in this pagan realm,
Live with their own kind, The God, The Goddess, their fellow pagans, knowing peace, knowing endless serenity.

wonderful!
you certainly ended it on a happier note than i would have, hehe.
God, it seems, certainly helps those with the will to control the beast within, and well he should.
lovely writing here, Isis. A goddess of life indeed, you have given life to your characters with but a breath of magic... inspired.

Thanks Dave, I enjoyed writing my little 'epic' and to have someone say I brought them to life so well, is all the compliment I need.
