Sweet promises broken,
Now all that's left are empty words ...
Forgotten.
How did I ever become,
Your whore on call?
Do you even remember when you once said,
'Baby, I wouldn't share this with anyone else'.

You swept me away,
With words so pretty.
You vowed your love undying,
And I fell right in,
Into your trap of carnal sin.
All because you said,
'Baby, I wouldn't share this with anyone else'.

And now here I am,
Another notch on your bedpost.
Hopelessly lost in your canopy of lust,
I did what I thought love must.
And it never felt wrong,
Only because you said,
'Baby, I wouldn't share this with anyone else'.

But now you tell me,
I am no one special in your life,
That what I imagined to be us
Was only mine.
That all I am is just
A cause of your wasted time.
So why the hell did you ever say,
'Baby, I wouldn't share this with anyone else'.

Verve you have expressed your frustration and anger well.
Speaking from experience there are many that know exactly the actions to take and the words to speak to get what they want...
they can appear very sincere until they get what they want...
Many want only the fun and romance and not the responsibility...James

wow. I really liked this piece. Strong and very straight-forward. It's kind of like a slap in the face for everybody involved. I can realate to this. Great writing... keep it up!

Bravo! I'm with ya on every word. I was nothing more than an experiance to someone who I foolishly fell in love with. Sadly, the only who payed the price was me. Good job, thanks for sharing it!

Hi James, thank you for your wise words ... I suppose that many of us would have learnt this the hard way. Perhaps that's what they call live and learn ... I hope I have gained valuable lessons from this episode.

Temptress* Moon:
Hey ... Thank you so much for dropping in again ... I am grateful for your kind words.

'prevailing darkness':
I guess i did intend for it to turn that way ... and i am glad it actually appealed to you. Thanx for reading this!

qtpieelmo & DancinQueen:
I am sure we'll fare much better without jerks like them ... But sometimes i just feel so incredulously stupid for not ever seeing through him earlier.

G. A. Webb:
Hi G, i am really glad that you thought well of this piece of work.
By the way, you write extremely well and i always enjoy reading your postings.

cheers,
verve~

Verve ... this does have song-like qualities to it ... maybe from the repeated last line in each stanza ... a piece from the heart, no doubt and well said ... thanks.

yes...I have learned the reason for booze. I am not sure I understand these people that can share love and then turn around and walk away without a second glance. Very painful.
