this is my only determination
forevermore nothing left to do
as i quill my desire into mindless ache,
tap the wellspring of tearful soul, and
drain out all the words that hurt
through hollow arteries of despair
to open nightly all the guarded flood-gates
turn loose renderings of a distant past,
mass exodus of these lonely thoughts,
this is all i am, all that is seen,
made by words welded together by pain
laced with knotted pride
so shattered inside,
can you not see what i did to me,
have pity! tell me you understand
that i am my own worst enemy,
ah, this word ink pumps
futility through my veins to pour out
in deep-ebony river dreams
on the white paper of hope
to stain the future-present-past,
not enough. . .it’s not enough!
there’s not enough of me
don’t you see!
i am nothing but these thoughts i bleed
driven to write solitary words of pain,
hope, love, understanding for all,
understanding for all. . .but not for me!
no excuses as i give a bitter laugh
at the one who wails inside,
i need to frantically bleed out
a pale space of nothing in which to collapse,
an imploded diamond, carbonized
as the last word drips down through
channels of my tired and weary mind
pooling at my bare feet firmly planted
in my determination of nothing left to do
as i quill my desire into mindless ache,
tap the wellspring of my tearful soul, and
drain out all the words that hurt so

worddancer,
if we could drain out the words, or thoughts about ourselves, how easy it would be.

I know this poem...one of those mirror things yanno...I'm keeping this one, as you have given voice to my heart. I thank you.

Powerful write here!  Very good with a kick of the *dark side*. Makes me ponder about many things.

Thanx,
DkW
