Spiritual Child

Last night heard you crying
I rocked and carressed you
In my arms you were lying
Safely I held you
(my sweet little beauty)

Oh, to look in your eyes
Wide open with fear
I don't want to die
Want to be with you here
(my sweet little angel)

Sweetly you smelled
Cheeks like ruby red wine
Wrapped in my dreams
Your tears were all mine
(my sweet little darling)

Flooded in tears
Your insincere daddy
He's caught in his fears
To act and be happy

He'll never rock you
Or know you have tickles
Never he'll hold you
Or hear your soft giggles

Caused so much affliction
Pain, tears and sorrow
To find our destination
...life's only borrowed
(a short while sometimes)

I could not explain it
Couldn't say why
There was no reason
To let go and be shy

Hush, hush now, my baby
Gone is all pain
You'll lie warm and safely
In the grave of my brain

For Nuala, in memoriam.

its been a while since ive replyed to anything but reading this i felt the beauty of the emotion and the last line was so strong that it pulled me in...and i felt a strong connection to the person having written it, which would be you.
its funny that so much of my poetry has been about the child within me and this is too, but in a completely different way. its a beautiful poem.
thank you, shira.

Bee,
Tough thing to write about, but you've done it well.  Thanks for sharing.

the impression that I get from this piece gives me chills. Very sorrowful.

With the word, I am mighty, with the pen I am free..

Dear Mags, Krawdad, D-poe, ginners!

Thanks for your time reading this and your replies.
I felt you all responded to my write in a personal way.

Especially to you Shira:
It is strange how a spiritual connection can be made, even over the internet.
What touched you is probably the part of that spiritual child that belongs to you.
At the time I wrote these lines, I felt a geat loss of what I didn't have.
Two years later I feel very different, knowing it is still out there in you and me and maybe the subconscious of others.
If you allow it to become reality, it can be conceived and born.
But sometimes people miss the right time for that and mourn for the rest of their existence or settle with a surrogate.
