Running throughout the darkness

In a stumbling fashion.

I feel the Beast clawing at my heels

With a  bloody passion.

Each stride forward, yet backward

With ragged breath out of tune

Blood coursing, hair on end

Heart pounding it’s impeding doom.

I hit the wall of Defeat

And slide to the ground

The Beast screeches out with triumph

. . . an eerie sound

Clawing and gouging deep into my back

I turn with my last ounce of strength

....... to fight back

Within the darkness I stare

The Beast steps forward to be seen

With startling recognition I see it's me

. . . a child unweaned

Joel

is it similar to facing one's fears?
I liked this, the rhythm, and the words~

Ah, the recognition.

There is an eternal of fear somewhere - and it permeates like mist...

I think it is the well of experience...

nice write Joel

That last ounce of strength is a king's ransom.....where does it come from when  you feel you don't have it!!!

Yes "Z" it's recognizing that the biggest fear we have is our frightened child inside..

Thanks "Severn" and you are right.

Kat that King's ransom is between desperation and lost of all things, you have nothing to loose in the fight then.

Gin. thanks for dropping by.

I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel.
