Why can't you look me in the eye?
Why do your eyes seem to dance away?
What are you hiding?
What don't you have the courage to say?

You can't get enough,
That is so proven,
Staring at me longingly when you think I can't see,
Don't leave US in this ruin!

After all these years,
I still can't read you,
Some secrets still locked so deep inside,
Tell me what am I supposed to do?

You want so much more than you have,
You want the woman you can cherish and worship,
You want to be dazzled physically and spiritually,
Can't you see the scales are about to tip?

But perhaps it's not me,
Perhaps there is another?
Perhaps I'm a dream not yet realised?
Perhaps you yearn for another?

Whatever it is, you must see,
I need a sign, I need the truth,
I need to know just what you feel,
And then we can see what we are worth.

But before I go I'll tell you this,
It was always there, we always knew,
Maybe you will never be able to face it,
Maybe our love will always be in leiu.....

Thanks Jeremy and Jane
Jane, I've learnt sometimes some things CANNOT be answered  ie. people find the question too much..

Isis I swear we live the same life!  You seem to be able to put into words what I have felt so many times with my own life and have not been able too say it.   Thanks so much....I appreciate your gift sooooooo!

Yikes, Isis!!! I felt as if I were looking into a mirror of my own past, here. This was my favorite:

Whatever it is, you must see,
I need a sign, I need the truth,
I need to know just what you feel,
And then we can see what we are worth.

How true it is... Without that knowledge, how can you even begin to salvage anything.

This was great!

Yes, it sure is hard, not understanding someone who is an important part of your life. Good luck, and write on!

In the night when things are quiet I think of you, and your soft ways, your shallow breath,
your closed eyes, and your elusive dreams of where I have not a clue.

Sometimes to know is more than you really want.

All my love kid.

I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel.

Well written Isis!  I do relate, I've been swallowed up by these ruins before.  Hugs to you

Take care,
Melissa

Hi Isis,

This poem Rocks!! It's exactly the kind of poem I love. I love everything it, the way it was constructed and the way it was ended.

I admire that in your work, I wish I was that good. This is definitely one poem that will always stick in mind...cuz that's how good it was.

I've got a lot to learn from good poets such as you and others.

Isis, no one can write from the heart the way you can and so simple and honest.  Haunting words, questioning words, may you write always!
