To return the Favour

The mind's a terrible tragic place indeed.
In some respects and other realms, my thoughts
Can launch attacks upon the very things
I dearly hold as mine own sacred self.
The world's a stranger place than I'd believe.
In all I've been and all I've done, the one
I've aim'd to please has been the darkest one
Of all, the one I'd call my friend and foe.
My self is stranger even than the world.
That friend and foe, my mind, my world, my self
Has brought me through the deepest ills and pains,
Yet fiercely caused some others, all the same.
My mind, my self, my world's a darken'd place.

My God forgives
And I do not.

Thanks, all, for the replies. Glad u liked it. It's my first blank verse poem in a while. Oh, and Stace, it was.

This has to due with your memetics thing doesn't it?
Well I liked this one a lot! The ending was very powerful. I loved it.

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.
