Kicking and fighting
Struggling
for light
for air, for life
I claw for the surface
For a breath before
The waves suffocate me
Drowning
In a sea of my own
Tears
Despair-
That six fingered sea monster
Twines cold fingers
around my leg
Dragging me down
Down
Holding me beneath the waves
of endless, pounding
Anguish

I could cut his fingers
With my Sword
With Truth
Hope
I could free myself from the painful grip of
Death
But I am too stupid
too Stupid
to live
to fight
or to love

Suffocation
Surrender to evil
Despair-
claims victory
Once more.

actually I hate depressing poetry. but I had a hard time this week and I sort of started thinking about a painting dealing with this issue and so I wrote about it first and it sort of evolved into ... um.. whatever this is.

for the record, I have not given into the serpent in the sea yet. my sword still causes him grief at every opportunity.
