This is a poem about society today and how much someone could have to go through by the time they hit 16...

Stripping at the local bar
To get something to eat
Selling herself for money
On the corner of the street.

She's been through more than you have
She's a pregnant run away
Her boy knocked her up and left her
Just happy he got laid...

And unless you can count dealing
As a job to depend on,
She's got no future for herself
And no way to raise her son.

So from now until she's gone
This is how her life will be
A homeless, dealing, mother,
Happy Sweet Sixteen.

awww, that's sad...

I don't know what I'd do if my life were like that at when I turned 16. of course, i don't have to worry too much about it. I turn 17 this year. but, I like this poem, as depressing as it is, and I think I'm gonna add it to my library.

I'm just glad that now this rainstorm has ended, and I can see the rainbow once again.

Well done on this one. I liked it a lot...

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.

I'm in love with my shadow
I admire it daily

It's the truth about the world today.  There's a whole nother side too.  The side where when you walk down the streets, people pull a knife on you and wave it in your face.  The side where the guys grab you as you walk down the hallway.  The side where no one cares if you're crying, just as long as you're not bleeding on the carpet.  It's a sad world we live in today.  So sad.  Anyways, good poem.

I know you're in a better place and though I cannot see your face, I know you're smiling down on me, saying everything's okay. ~R Kelly (I wish)

I honestly liked that poem, it's true. Thats how girls live to feed them selvs. Have you ever herd of the song by "City High"? it's really sad it shows boys and girls about having a baby and dancing for money.

Learning how to walk, Learning how to talk, are the hardest thing to do in a baby life. Learning how to walk for me is the hardest thing to do.

Yup, actually, that's my favorite song. I'm glad you guys liked this poem... It's one of my favorites. I just think it's tough to watch someone you love go through something like this, and even harder if you've ever experienced it yourself... thanx again.

It's nice to see a warning for younger teens to be more responsible growing up.
I already responded to the duplicate page, but I'll still say that this is a wonderful poem
keep it up Britt~Britt
