"Bed of Lies"

Here I drift off to sleep
In this cold bed of lies
That have been spun around me
Much like a spider web,
To trap me in.
No rest will come to my tired aching eyes
That have wasted away
With the fallen tears
And their salty marks.
I can't stand any more empty moments
Of faking what's really there.
I can't stand faking another hollow smile
That's used to hide what I really feel and think.
Ever fading lives
That we surrender to pain, false hopes, and dreams.
Feeling like you're always in a place
Where you just don't belong,
But continuing on like the actor that you are.
Darkness closes in
Bringing on the weakness
That lies in every one of our hearts,
The weakness that fightens us,
Into living up to everyone's expectations
But our own.
'No I would not sleep in this bed of lies'
Where everyone falls for comfort,
So toss me out
On to the ground
Where I may find my own comfort that I need.

*Note: The quote that is used, 'No I would not sleep in this bed of lies' is a line from a Matchbox Twenty song called "Bed of Lies." I also used the name of the song for my poem.

This was deep, I really like it. Welcome to passions.

I really adore the style in which you wrote this poem, sort of a fragmented free-versish format.  I noticed rhymes here and there, all placed brilliantly... you did a marvelous job on this poem, but I've never heard the song.
Welcome to Passions in Poetry.  I hope you spend more time in here reading, replying and sharing!

Welcome to Passions!
I see you that you quite the smart one! Not only did you write a wonderful poem, but you did include where you got a certain qoute and title from. I appreciate that you recognize those who inspired you to write it in the first place.
Well done, and I hope to see more.
