Sick Attitude

My mind hurts
which makes my body hurt.
My only escape
is found in an empty bottle.
My thoughts are scrambled
and full of intense rage.

Why do I help others when
I can't even help myself.
I try to keep my head held high
but my eyes always seem to look downward.
Nothing seems to excite me any more,
is this how it feels to give up?
I am not going to give in
and I will never back down.
But life has its toll
and sometimes its overwhelming.

For now I will be miserable by myself
so I can't hurt anyone who wants to talk.
Maybe tomorrow I will feel a little better
and if I don't I'll try to make everyone else smile.
I'll be happy until I am alone,
just thinking of dreams from yesterday.
I'll push forward and continue to push
until life throws me a nice gift.
But knowing me all to well, I will
just waste the gift and wait for another to waste.

Give her two red roses, each with a note. The first note says "For the woman I love" and the second, "For my best friend."

Now don't think I'm being judgemental because I'm not...it's just my 2 cents worth.
Instead of waiting for the gifts to come to you, why not go for them? It's harder that way, but it's worth it, or at least I think so. I admire your strength and determination that you've shown in this poem. Good luck.

Thank you Dark Enchantress, but when I ment a gift I ment something that will happen out of the blue and be pleasent. So you see its kinda hard to go after a gift that you don't know what it is until it has arrived.

I liked your lines about how could you help others if you can't help yourself. I ALWAYS say that to myself when I'm really messed up and people want help.
I enjoyed this one.

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.

I'm in love with my shadow
I admire it daily
