Hi, this poem is not my usual lovey mushy stuff. Yesterday one of my boyfriends good friends died in a car accident. I knew him too becoz i sat with him at lunch last year until the year 12's graduated. I know this poem isn't very good, but it just came to me to write about it... thanks

A tragic crash I heard on the news
A life too young to be lost
And I glanced up for a look
I recognised that mangled car

When I heard, I knew exactly who it was
The guy whose life had been lost
I remembered those days out on the grass
Sitting with my boyf & all those yr 12 guys

And Tim was there too

He was so quiet, never said a word
Just sat with his roll, smiling
My boyfriend had nothing but total respect
For this guy who was apparently a legend

It happened at 4am, on the country road
We don’t know yet whether it was speed or alcohol
Some say he fell asleep at the wheel
Of his blue holden commodore

My friend told my boy, when I was there
And went into this horrible shock
He was such a legend we said to himself
Why did this have to happen

He told me later he was his mate for 10yrs
Saw him all the time
I didn’t what to do so I held him so close
As into my shoulder he cried

At school today I remember what it was like
When the yr 12’s were still there
But they graduated last year, all out into the world
While I’m still doing year 11

I saw Tim on the bench eating his roll
And the others mucking around and joking
Back then life was so care-free
I wish his life had been spared

Why did this have to happen?
He was so young, just 18
And he wasn’t saved
Now he’s not in even heaven

A fatal crash , killing 3 teens
Why does this sort of thing happen
Was it drugs or alcohol, or just driving tired?
What a waste of 3 lives… 3 souls

Death seems so very far away
Until it happens to someone you know
So many questions, so much anger and despair
But for my boy, I’m always there…

This is really upsetting, I've never lost a friend, but since the last week in December, there have been 3 deaths in my family. its awful, I hope you and your boy do better, and my thoughts are with you

i dont know if i should cry because its over, or smile because it happened

My condolences. You said the 3 souls were a waste but I really don't see it that way. They are somewhere right now just hanging out....whether it be in heaven or in our memories, they are still alive for now and for always.

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.

I'm in love with my shadow
I admire it daily

Oh wow, this is sad. It was very good, and has a nice style, but this is sad. I've never lost someone like that, but I don't think I ever would. I'm sorry that you have to go through that. Great poem.

Also, just a little word of advice, because your poem's title has on it "Plz read," a lot of people may choose not to read this. Next time, you might get a lot more replies without the plz read.

Good job just the same.

--Marie

I never thought that you would ever be the one to let me down. I guess that just goes to show how wrong I always am.

I really liked this one, and my sympathy goes out to you. Hang in there. And like you said at the end, Be there for your boy. Time will lighten the load, but for now just try to help him along.

Sorry to see you have to go thru the loss of a good friend.  Life seems to be really unfair.  Just remember, he's up there happy right now

This is such a sad situation. Death comes to us all, and he knows no age or situation. The best thing to do is to keep them alive in your memories. This is a wonderful tribute to them. As for your boyfriend, the best thing you can do is be there for him. Best wishes.

This is such a tragic thing to have happen.  I don't know what you can do for your bf, but be there for him.  Good job on the poem.
