Physically? VA.... Mentally? I'm not quite sure

Smile today,
Tears tonight.
See me as you will,
The person I show you.
The person I am .
Can you decide the real me?
Is it the person who's happy,
Who's always full of life?
Or the person who comes home and sits in the corner,
And reaches for the sharp object?
Do you really know me?
Or is it now a harsh realization?
For the first time in our friendship,
A friendship of God knows how many years,
You to have a taste now of my pain.
I finally told you the story...
Are you now scared?
Do you now understand the cuts on my arms?
Or do you still believe there are better ways?
Do you still see me the same way?
Or am I a new person to you?
Tell me how you see me.
See me now for what I am,
The me you didn't know yesterday...
But the me you'll now the rest of our lives.

*Jennifer

What a wonderful and realistic poem. I used to cut myself also and all I ever wanted was for one person to care and understand why. So i know just what you meant in this. i hope everything works out for you.

Somehow I missed this one and I found it on the second page all alone.
Well I thought it rocked and keep posting!

Oh, absolutely. This was incredible.
Very hard-hitting.
I liked when you said "Are you now scared?"
Very powerful. Excellently done.

Tears of Glass:

These poems of yours are conveying a very deep feeling of sadness very well. I am glad that you are brave enough to discuss such dark aspects of yourself through poetry.

I truly hope that you resolve this situation. Perhaps you should discuss the root of the cutting. I'm no psychologist, but if others are attacking you for doing it, they are attacking the wrong thing. It seems we live in a world hell bent on instant solutions. Dig deeper, my friend. Combat the enemy within. Tell others to as well.
