They tell you stories,
lies of unending love or friendship,
tales of yearning,
searching for the perfect "other half".

Everyone is informed,
boys come and go, but, friends are forever.
You can't possibly believe that lie,
for it has never held truth.

Boys may come and go,
yet friends are even scarcer,
give it up, there is no unending "best friendship"
a falsehood told to revive hope after the pain.

You should never put all your trust into one person,
You should never believe anyone else can fix things,
You should never  believe in "forever" cause it ended long ago;
You should never think you're happiness is unbreakable.

"I'm a big, big, girl, in a big, big world, it's not a big, big thing if you leave me, but I do feel, that I will miss you much..." Emilia

Hmm...
there are people who weigh things too heavily on one person, this i will agree with.  And it is best to assume that nothing lasts forever.
But some things do, even if it is best not to think so.
So keep your head high, Jenn.  Boys may come and go, as you said, but there will be one to make you truly happy, and when you find him you will know it beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Well this is a very  negative poem. You must've been going through some bad stuff. ANyway.......I know that you know otherwise than to think this on a hardheaded level.....nice one.

I think on many levels. I know there are possiblities of forever friendships... but I also know that most friends hurt one another... and it always ends one way or another. Don't even get me started on relationships...
But like I said before... I think on numerous levels, this is just one way to look at things.
Thanks for the replies!

Nothing we have is perfect
differences, contrasting personalities
This causes all the confusion and hurt
but this shouldn't undermine you thoughts on lasting relationships
keep you head up

Like it was said in other replies, this is a very negative poem.  I believe that some friendships do last forever, though.  Don't let anything ruin a friendship if you can do anything to help it- friends are worth fighting for, the reward is far greater than the potential loss.  I agree that you shouldn't put all your trust in one "human" person, but you can put your trust in Jesus.  Always remember that.
But, good poem.  Keep writing your feelings- that is how the best poetry is made.

One thing that's always true even in relationships is nothing lasts forever and the only thing that's constant is change. Even if your friends with someone all your life the relationship will always change over time so it never ends the way it started. Anyways thats a great poem. Keep it up.
