Beyond Your Reach

Snow lies deep, crusted with filth;
Trees stripped bare, dirt puddles form.
Walkways cracked, side roads dipped;
One small boy walks on through the storm.

Mangled houses loom in the dark;
The boy's destination unattractive and ominous.
Looking down the length of an alley...
To a world of much greater promise.

Such a land of possibilities, within his reach!
But no way exists for that boy to go on.
Oh, to continue past planned intentions,
Start a new life, a previous time gone.

Yet unattainable is this existence,
And impossible for him to ever see.
With one last, longing look down the lane,
He accepts his life...whatever it may be.

Nice one here. I liked the meaning of it all.

Virgil: An interesting piece. So many people could learn from this - to accept their life instead of wanting something else in its place.

Nice work.
