Moonlight and Memories

I wonder now if you recall
That first night we walked
Together on Siesta beach.
My first memories of you
Were engraved in gold
That night, where white sand
Cooled our feet and we began
Our search for new love.

The moon in all its splendor
Was our only light that night.
I caught a glimpse of your
Smile as the moon's brilliance
Kissed softly the face I adored.
Nothing seemed to matter except
You and I,star-crossed lovers.

Love now holds new meaning,
You're no longer a part of me.
You defined 'nothing is forever'.
Somewhere hidden deep within me
Lies the memory of your love.
If you recall nothing else of us,
Remember this woman loved you.

Today when I heard from you
It was as if you came alive
In my heart all over again.
As your memory invaded
My mind I could not forget,
All I could do was weep..
For 'nothing lasts forever'.

Oh this tugged at my heartstrings Kate! It is funny but sometimes the pain seems to last forever, and you certainly showed it in this piece. Great job.

My fourth read, I love it still.

Mabe, thank you, I love this one myself. When you think you've found "THE" one and then you find out something was wrong with your thinking, it's so damn hard to accept. But..this is life and I will survive (as Gloria Gaynor said.) Kate
