Morning's Grass

by Michael Auguste

Arise this morn and venture out
And spread both palms to warming sun
Throw back your head, inhale the day
Believe your life has but begun

Of memories, there is no need
Now bare the slate, you are the chalk
Let laughter fill this virgin scene
Forget the pain and take a walk

Remove your shoes and feel the grass
Then count each sound that you will hear
For each speaks of a living you
You concentrate too much on fear

From still damp grass, taste of its dew
Now savor newness that it is
And know that you are also new
So fill this day with loveliness

There is no depth within this poem
There isn't need, it's just a thought
I hope you'll listen to these words
That in this scene, you'll too be caught

Proust-
"Love is space and time measured by the heart"

Really like the poem. Wish we could do just that. Go outside and write a whole new life for ourselves! Nice to dream about!

Each day is a new day, Michael...and you are the chalk...I love that line...makes me smile...loved the poem and its possitive hopeful look.

Everyone,

Thank you for your nice comments. This poem was written to be posted on a Neuropathy board to offer hope to those suffering from this terrible and painful disease. That you enjoyed it also, just makes me feel all the better. I much appreciate your good words on this.

I'll have to make a habit of this. It's sounds too inviting not to.

Words to live by, Michael.
Thanks.

Hi Michael, this is another one I'm sure I replies to. Oh well.
It is a beautiful sentiment and beautiful image.

Wonderful poetic advise. Thank goodness Spring has sprung. In the NW, it has sprung a leak. I thought I would never say, "I welcome the rain." It has been a dry year, and our power rates are sky high. Be well and at peace.

You are incorrect, for there is depth.

"Arise this morn and venture out
And spread both palms to warming sun
Throw back your head, inhale the day
Believe your life has but begun"

This is lovely. Beautifully done, just beautiful.

Sue,

Thank you for reading and liking this one.  It's always such a pleasure when you post on one of my poems.

seraphin,

Thank you for the generous words.  In "my" opinion :-) this poem has no depth.  Take care.
