The wind has seized me with a shout,
turned my umbrella inside out,
torn the hat from off my hair.
Carried it away somewhere.
It's sent me stumbling down the street
and splashed cold water on my feet.
Whipped my clothes to left and right.
Made of me a sloppy sight.
I just can't take it anymore
and so I duck into a store.
Call a taxi. Who can stand
when winds of march assault the land?

Trillium,

This is really quite vivid. Simple, yet "splashed" with description. Thanks for sharing the experience.

You vividly describe the March winds. I have been wanting to get out into the garden, the sun is shining but the wind is icy. Soon! Joyce

Ah, you are not far from the NW. I thought you walking beside me. March so welcome, yet unpredictable.

RMW: Thanks for your comments. This really happened to me in Seattle a few years back. It ruined my umbrella and almost ruined me too!

Thanks Joyce! I wrote this about an experience I had one day in Seattle awhile back. In March and a howling wind! The wind is icy here too and I have not started doing anything in the yard.

Julian: Thanks for commenting. I do live in North Idaho, but the locale of the poem was Seattle. I guess from your comment, you are familiar with the area?
