Between the Lines

Soft-Toned

Light a candle, vanilla scented
and stay my thoughts with me.
Far away, my heart beats heard
pacing, desiring he.

When springtime love brings want of one
creating tapestries,
weaving are mind passages
as body craves appease.

First as love unfolds in sweet
array of fibers blend,
he comes to me in time reversed,
in yesterday's ascend.

And then into his waiting arms
his canvassed love brings sighs
intoxicating, tones of soft
heard 'neath the starlit skies.
