Friday Night Alive
Virginia Salter

ninety-two degrees on the street
even so, life is awfully sweet,
nature’s blow dryer’s on hot and low
curb to curb people soakin’ up notes that flow
three months of age all the way to ninety-two
joinin’ in the throng ‘long with me and you
walkin’, standin, rollin’ on wheels
jubilant voices, delightful squeals
birds above, risin’ and divin’, soarin’ ‘cross the skies
all things together seem to hypnotize
dragon fly flittin’ over the crowd
never mind that the singin’s good an’ loud
scalloped cirrus float aloft, fluffin’ the heavens,
fillin’ the air for two hours from seven
crazy days’ sales just about to close
time to get up an’ follow my nose
head for home an’ the comfort o’ bed
givin’ to my pillow this weary ol’ head

What a picture! You do that so very well.
