Celestial twins were born this day
their star-crossed paths meet twice a year
As one grows strong the other fades
the planets all concur I fear

That one shall rule the other 'till
no longer sun shall mount the sky
The one dawns swift o'er distant hills
preferring light to lullabyes

and sees his sibling's form retreat
a little sooner ev'ry day
'tis destined they shall never meet
such is the price these gods must pay

And truly they are gods indeed
to pay no heed to cares of man
The one upon his fiery steed
too soon leaps crost the heaven's span

'till cloaked arrives the darker one
to cast his shadow over all
Who cares no whit if work is done
and even less when comes the fall

For that is when their roles reverse
the second time within a year
As he gains strength his twin fares worse
an icy hand draws much too near

I greet the brother Equinox
for Vernal brings eternal hope
Autumnal ( likened to a pox )
has drawn me near end of my rope

Doc, I enjoyed this poem very much, and I can tell you I am sure glad that the warmer of the two is finally here for a visit.

Doc,
and I at the other side of the world suffer the reverse. Still I like winter, at least you can rug up and we seldom have snow. Nice poem and I loved the title.

An intriguing celestial portraiture, Doc. I especially admire your last stanza. Very strong.

Take care,
Claire
