My Diamond in the Ruff

I call her my jewel of the east
Sometimes my diamond in the ruff
Treats me like the least of the least
The diamond n’er polished enough.

It is not that I did not try
It’s now going on sixty year
I guess the question would be why?
But that would cause a painful ear.

It’s either that I love her so
Or the kind that never gives up.
Whatever the frame, it’s my hoe.
And I drink alone from this cup.

It’s true she gave me extra time
I’d either be in bed or dead
My eating habits are a crime.
It’s something that she said and said.

And I believe her swear declare
For it is, my nightly nightwear.

Seymour, this is playfully cynical. I enjoyed it, thanks.

That nightwear you wear has nightly polished the stone....

and rightly so....

and what's that sparkling back at me....

a Sy who holds the memories....

Well all I can say ... is she must be blind
does she not see the gem of you ... the rare and treasured find?

Could she not see ...the twinkle in your eye.
Could she not see ... the way you fly?

Well her loss ... is anothers gain.
Me thinks that she ... must be insane.

Youre a gemstone ... an emerald rare ...
and a poet ... beyond compare.
