I stalk each room, dust rag in hand,
I's cleaning day, dirt must be banned.
Out darned spot, (I dare not swear,
My mother's ears were everywhere.)

I open up your bathroom door,
To find a shirt upon the floor.
A towel lies crumpled in the sink.
What has happend here? I have to think.

It has been at least four years or more,
Since there's been a mess upon your floor.
Have you been back to haunt this room,
So my hateful nagging I could resume?

I stand and stare in great surprise,
At this wonderful sight before my eyes.
I'd never have thought for a single mintute,
I could find such a mess and revel in it.

And then my mind comes back to now
And figures out the where and how
Your bathroom's in such disaray.
Your grandson visited for a day.

Has he inherited your skill
Of dishevelment and clumsy spill?
You'd walk through the kitchen, I'm not kidding,
Cupboards would open without bidding.

You never learned the art of closing.
The floor would almost need a hosing;
After you'd fixed yourself a lunch,
Scattering crumbs as you'd happily munch.

I would not have thought, I'd see the day,
I'd want such messiness to stay.
Yet, I quietly close your bathroom door.
Leaving the shirt upon the floor.

Very sweet, and written of a subject so dear to many hearts.

Wow, you describe such smaller things in such vivid ways, filled with such incredible voice! I always have that feeling too, usually I like to keep things clean, but sometimes when I look at a mess that my cousins or friends did, I wish I could just leave it to remember all the memories, which make me feel good. Excellent poem, dear friend, thank you for sharing, you have such great talent!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Thank you dear friends. My darling husband had been a bachelor for years and a little careless sometimes and I am sure I did my share of nagging. It is hard to see his uncluttered bathroom now. Love, Joyce

Good poem Joyce. It's funny how a small thing will bring memories flooding back.

I enjoyed the read Joyce. Made me smile knowing "This house isn't the only one" that the mysteries abound and no one to lay claim to responsibility for the cabinets, bathroom, or dirty dishes in the sink.

Oh how those pet peeves can even find a place in one's heart when a loved one is lost. This is a powerfully poignant piece, enjoyed the read!

I love the way the whimsy segued to the wishing... All too often, the things that bug us most are those we miss the most. *S* Well done!

It is always lovely to see when someone makes art out seeming "inconsequentials" because the words used to wrap around them say so much

Great Poem I enjoyed it
