Under Night's Sleep

As the evening progressed
and the days fog relented,
I lit the candles, to watch the flickering,
as nightfall, my only constant,
set my mind to rest.

As I surrounded myself in thoughts
soaking in naked warmth,
every detail of my body,
was touched by the tenderness
of my yesterday's.

Captured in the moment,
I allowed the droplets
to rinse away my loneliness
and dry me to a fantasy
fused by the sounds
of my sighing and the chiming of time,
entering my mind.

And as darkness swept over me,
my dreams cast shadows of you,
your eyes awakening memories,
bathing me in desire, painted scenes
of soft strokes, images of time
beneath the shade of mind,
under nights sleep, where love keeps.

Wynter,

Sounds like a lovely vision found in your dreams. Sometimes, remembering is a good thing. After all, those memories remain inside our heart forever regardless of the fact that we choose to bury them. They are always there. Awaiting our return. Well written.

Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats

So often peace is not found in the darkness of night...this is a very pleasant piece showing that calm can be found if the light is in one's heart. The light of remembering was your light here...right?

In One's Heart

When the light of remembering
scents the air of darkness,
gone are the lonely shadows
and warm are the smiles
that settle in the calm
of one's heart.
