I'm not the type of woman
You’d yearn for through the years
But I will stand right at your side
And help you face your fears.
I’m not a raving beauty
You’ll ache for in the night
But I will pull you to my heart
Cherish and hold you tight.
I’m not an inspiration
For lovely poetry
But I will give you all I have
As long as you’ll let me.
I’m not a sage with answers,
I don’t know why things are
But I know there’s no man finer
If I searched near and far.
I’m not a lucky person -
Or so I would have sworn
But you have made me thankful
For the day I was born.
I’m not good enough for you
But this I humbly vow
I’ll spend forever loving you
The best way I know how.

I’m not a woman men desire
I may not set your soul on fire
I know I’m not a great bargain
But I’ll love you till my life’s end.

Great, great poem. Maybe selling yourself a bit short? To those who love you, you are all of these things. Loved this so much!

I like this because by describing the things you are not, you are defining the things you are...which far outweigh the things your not...towards the end it seems to me that you are good enough for him.

I learned a long time ago ...
beauty tis truely only skin deep.
Real beauty is found within the heart,
held in the promises that you keep.

Ive seen the light shining in your words,
heard the sincerity of your poetic voice.
I know things haven't always been easy ...
some roads traveled haven't been by choice.

They say what dont break us ...
makes us stronger in the end.
I believe it also gives us patience ...
and compassion that we in turn may lend.

They also say beauty is in the eye of those beholding ...
and there are those who have eyes that see on thru.
But when one looks at another thru the eyes of love ...
theres no way they wont see the beauty in you.

Sprayed across my heart and hers
Danced butterflies in the wild
This angel, this woman ,
who loves me with the innocence of a child.

I don't know you, yet the one that does is very lucky. For beauty is in the eye of beholder. And when a person is beauliful inside, the outside takes care of itself.

Just your loving beauty makes you very fine.

i think that the one you love him is very lucky and if he think other wise then you are too good for him .
i hope that ever lovers feel the same way you do so the whole would be loving and caring.

Suthern~
I've taken self-appointed editorial rights young lady ! !

Oh Yes I Am !

I am the type of woman
You’ll yearn for through the years
I will stand right at your side
And help you face your fears.

I will be the gentle beauty
You’ll ache for in the night
I will pull you to my heart
Cherish and hold you tight.

I'll be your inspiration
For loving poetry
I will give you all I have
As long as you will let me.

Though I seek to find the answers,
I don’t always know why things are
But I know there is no man finer
For I've searched both near and far.

I’m such a lucky person -
And I am convinced it's true
That you have made me thankful
For the day that I met you.

I will be more than enough for you
And this I humbly vow
I’ll spend forever loving you
The best way I know how.

I’ll be the woman that you desire
For I promise to set your soul on fire
I want to be your greatest treasure
So, I’ll always love you with fullest measure.

Now, PRINT IT ! Tape it to the mirror !
And read it everyday !
*Hugs*

I like this

Don't ever give in, if you do you've lost everything you've ever had and everything you hope to gain, but if you carry on your already winning.

Sorry, my friend, I have to disagree! You ARE all those things - it's shining so bright in your poetry and your replies that you just can't see it!!! Put on your sunglasses!! Wonderful poem.

Oh, my... I never expected responses like this... I couldn't read through them without the old tear ducts kicking in. *S* Y'all are the greatest... thank you so much!

JLR: I'm told I do that a little too often... and I'm trying to reform. *G* Thank you so much.

JamesMichael: Thank you very much for your kind words.

Jellybean King: I like that perspective. *S* I actually described this as a rocking chair poem... back and forth, back and forth... *S* Thank you very much!

Janet Marie: What can I say, dear friend? *S* You know it's easier to believe the bad... and hope is a new kid on this block. *S* You and Marge just had to prove me wrong on at least one point, didn't ya? LOL. Thank you so much for the poem... and the generous heart behind it. *S*

bslicker: What a wonderful reply!! Thank you so much... I hope you're right! *S*

Dreamless: If all lovers woke up feeling "God, I'm so lucky!" and shared that with their partners, there'd certainly be a lot more smiling faces, wouldn't there? *G* Thank you!

Marge: You can edit me any day, sweet lady... for I like your version much better! *S* (And of course I LOVE the idea of covering my mirror! *EG*) Thank you!

SEA: Awesome?? WOW... Thank you so much! *S*

Martie: Yes, ma'am (clicking heels *G*) How could I disobey such loving instructions? *S* Thank you very much... your sweet reply means a lot to me.

Moon Dust: Thank you for reading... I'm very glad you liked! *S*

PDV: Sunglasses? *G* (puzzled look) I've been in the dark so long, I'm not sure what those are? LOL. Thank you so much, dear lady... I really appreciate those kind words.

oh lady, the responses from us to you, and you to us...just prove that 'you are' not the 'you are not'
I am humbled by your verse, the beauty in your heart comes out so clearly in your ‘I am not’s’..and lol…..I have seen your smile…don’t you go saying not one thing about your ‘beauty’ lady….I found my bat the other day…and if this weren’t so beautiful, I would be threatening to use it….
I desire to put our friendship in equally as nice verse but don’t think I can

kudos to marge and jm...they put down so beautifully what we all see so clearly

the weakness in me

I fall
to my knees
unable to proceed
and all I am able to say to you
is-It’s a bad day for me
but, I need say no more
and you are there my friend
to strengthen
the weakness in me
your walk too is
many times in pain
but no one would know
you squeeze moments out of hours
of work just to send smiles
my precious friend
you make it easier
for me to bear
the weakness in me
you say your mirror doesn’t show
all that you wish that it would
but lady I am here to say
you couldn’t be
more beautiful to me

The poem may say: "I’m not an inspiration For lovely poetry"... but I can see I'm going to have to write "I was wrong" on the blackboard several hundred times in penance. *S* For I can't think of anything lovelier than the verses given me here... I can only say bless you. *S*

jellybeans: You dear... being your friend is an honor... and your beautiful poem brings tears... I love you so! And that strengthening stuff and smile sending? That goes both ways! *S* You just g'head and threaten with that bat. *G* It would be worth a few bruises to be close enough to you for you to take a swing or two. *G* Thank you, lady... so very much!

Sunshine: Thank you for the kind words and the hugs. *S* Both are appreciated. *S*

Suthern,
If they can't see the beauty in you, that's their loss. Wonderful write.
