REMEMBRANCE

We sat by a brook on a grassy knoll,
Just waiting for life to go by;
We watched the sun as it did roll,
Across the cloudless sky.

We sat in a meadow by a shady tree,
Talking ‘bout loves we’d known;
Not really seeing what there was to see,
We left, feeling so alone.

We sat in the darkness of my room,
Not caring ‘bout wrong and right;
And then it ended, all too soon,
Just friends, we said "good night".

"HEY, DON'T THROW THAT AWAY, I MIGHT NEED IT SOMEDAY!!!" Packratmike

Remembrances like that are so painful....and then we remember 'what could have been.'

Excellent work.

Mike I really like the implications of a lost lifetime romance in this...I think it's so well crafted that way.....it's hard to get past that wall when you're unsure of the response especially when you don't want to lose the loving you're already are enjoying....well written!! Love the sleepy dreamy way you deliver it too! Wonderful poignant memories!

The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges.

Elizabeth...this was a warm and caring friendship that was flavored with the bittersweet due to certain obstacles. Painful?...sometimes.
Regrets?...sometimes. Fond memories....tons!!! Glad you enjoyed it.

JLR...I think the simple images make for an easy laid back read. At first, I wasn't going to post this one because I felt it was too simple. Glad I changed my mind and glad you liked it.

Paula...This is true. As usual, thanks for your nice comments.

serenity...This took place in my lazy days..lol..Glad you liked it and keep reading.

ethome...Something may have been lost here...I'll never know for sure, but I do know that she probably revisits a lot of the same great memories that I do. If I ran into her at the grocery store today, would I try to rekindle that friendship?....nope....our bond was in a different era...too long ago. Thanks for the great comments.

We miss opportunities because we're afraid to risk what we have on what we want. *S* I like this! *S*
