I watch the emotions
playing across your face

Your eyes
Your hands
your body
say everything
We need not speak

And so I don't
Just a gentle sad smile

I've loved you
as you do me
for years now

It's as given and as constant
as my breath
and always will be

And so, sweet man,
I can only ask you to
accept my thorns
that you contemplate in pain
and see beyond them
to the rich velvety petals
of my soul
that only you know

I am not one or the other
I am both

The sun and the storm
The laughter and the tears
The tender sweet kiss brushing your lips
and the harsh slap
~God forgive me~
my inability to be an angel
I am
Just A Woman

After years of searching, I have found I am nothing more, nothing less...I am in truth Just A Woman after all.

I believe it is a great gift to know ourselves, be comfortable with our weaknesses, rejoice in our strengths and for others to except both. I enjoyed this very much, simple, honest and very direct. Thank you for posting.

Hoping that he has a collection of thorns, to that your sole can be seen and touched.

Being just a woman is more than enough! Loved your original metaphor comparing a beautiful (yet thorny) rose to a woman...(sigh)...as with anything which is precious and worth having, one must accept the thorns along with the petals.

I did like the part "and the harsh slap." Kind of made me smile a bit.
Nicely done. And isn't "Just a Woman" an oxymoron or something?

Most strange did one say
in the direction of self
lie all others your hands
to touch along the pathway

we call life is learning
to be oneself is the center
the very core of every further
understanding the I is the knowing

Well said
I used to tell someone a lot "I am just a guy", I think I can relate to this.

I suppose we all need a slap now and then to realize that women are not angels...and men need women not angels...James

Allen - *smiling* Thank you!

Atelamon - I couldn't agree more. You said that very well.

James - I'm keeping that quote from you! Is excellent. Wish more men felt that way. Thank you.

Seymour - *smiling* Thank you. I've enjoyed your writing lately.
