~*~ She's Stuck In The 70's ~*~
by Mysteria

Over 30 years ago I looked just like her.
I had all the same wonderful dreams.
I marched for peace and unity, and felt
Exactly what I think she must feel.
I was going to make a difference.
I wrote of lilacs, war, peace and self.
Back then I felt a snowflake could kill me.
I was pre-ordained to save the world from itself.
For her the wind dances above the ground,
She floats above it in a whisper.
Her mind's eye, like mine, also creates her world.
She often talks of colorful butterflies,
Beautiful unicorns that glow in the night.
The stars in the sky that twinkle are like,
The life so effervesent in his eyes.
She is truly a lover of words and life,
A pure soul somehow lost in space and time.
She is stuck in the 70’s, and feeling love.
A sarong wraps a body of a woman, a mother,
With a heart and soul so pure and untouched.
She writes words to sing a song from her soul.
A mass of curls frame a face that fools you,
Angelic at first glance, but look deeper…
There lies wisdom, and strength behind the eyes.
She is on her journey and knows where she is going.
Just as sure as if she were a flower child then.
I see no real difference between us two,
Until I pass by a mirror’s reflection.
I am in the fall of my winter,
She but the spring of her summer.
Yes, that was then, and this is now!
So there she sits, her muse running wild,
Seeking words of love, unity, peace, love.
She has the same dreams of fantasy,
The same body, soul and heart that beats.
Instead of holding up a peace sign.
She speaks of her journey and hopes it is heard.
But I smile knowing she is stuck in the 70's!
And realize that 30 years later there a girl,
That thinks all that glitters is gold,
And she too is buying a stairway to heaven.

(this is for all the young poets I read-bless you)

this is absolutely amazing. . .

it's like being there. . . a small transport back in time. . .

Mysteria, this could be one of the most poignant and well-constructed poems I have ever read....what a pleasure it is!

I have an uge to run out and buy a lava lamp!

Sweet and wonderful angel friend of mine!
How absolutely breathtaking this was!
Despite where we stand along the passage of this journey in life....whether we have just started, whether we are in the middle, or nearing the final stretches, we all have a purpose....and those of us who use the gifts and talents we have to touch the hearts and lives of others along the way, will leave behind a legacy that those that pass the places we have walked later on will respect and remember...and it will send them a message of inspiration and motivation to continue in their walk with pride and excel to the highest boundaries of their skies....
You smile with pride and keep shining brightly, sweet friend...that is exactly what you are doing along your journey.

I loved this, Mysteria....your words touch my heart in the most tender places.

Hugs and smiles to you, always, Martha

Hi!
inot2B: One word can say it all. Thank you for your kindness.

Sven: I loved the 70's and I am so glad I gave you a shot of nostalgia, we all need that once in a while.

Balladeer: Wow, coming from you I accept that as a compliment, as I sat and read a "ton" of yours two nights ago, and loved it all, every one.

Martha: Your kind heart is showing again! You are without a doubt the best person in the whole entire world and I want to shout, "World this wowan gave me back my confidence"! Bless you Martha.

Now: KismetKelly...
My goodness you didn't even tell me you came over to Pipps!
Ladies and Gentlemen....this poem was done for this young lady, who one day will be a shining vocal star, as she knows there is indeed a stairway to heaven and she is running up it! For Cheryl, who reminded me of my strength when I was young - single parent working her "buns" off to support her family, trying to get a career happening, and writing the most beautiful poetry in her "spare time"...this poem was originally done for you and is for you always, as you represent a determination to be the best you can be with integrity, sincerety and determination. You have all the qualities that will keep our world safe and sane, and I love you for being stuck in the 70's. Bless you sweetie.
