We're welcoming our newest,
Little Hannah Jo has come.
She's newer than the new year,
Or the new millenium.

She has a lot of long black hair.
This is great surprise.
The wisdom of the ages
Is showing through her eyes.

The world must seem so strange to her,
She handles it with aplomb.
She's stolen all our hearts away;
A beauty like her mom.

Hannah Jo is less than one day old,
And as I meet her gaze,
I wonder what it would be like
To have no yesterdays.

No sorrows and no sad regrets
And no what might have beens.
Only her name is on the page
As her new life begins.

Written on her birthday, 01/04/2001

There is nothing so beautiful, as the birth of a baby. And such a beautiful writing for her. Lucky she is to have such a tender loving grandmother.

Absolutely beautiful and delightful. btw, is her mom your daughter? You wouldn't be biased would ye? Heh-heh-heh. I agree especially with Poet DeVine's idea of making this one a keepsake, it's wonderful!

Thanks to all of you wonderful people for commenting on my poem and my great granddaughter. No, my daughter is her grandma and two sillier people than we are you will never see again.I just came back from holding her, and I am not bit biased, she is beautiful. Love, Joyce

Congradulations! What a warm and beautiful write!

What an intriguing thought...to have no yesterdays....which is exactly what a one day old baby is! I love it!

Joyce,

What a beautiful and touching tribute to her. I am sure when she grows up, she will treasure this always. Wonderful writing!!
