Lady Blue-Bonnet
Virginia Salter

lady blue-bonnet
perched with cane
still supplies life-giving water
to her quaint domain

flowers flourish
color life as I walk by
greet the day with sunny smiles
as she grins at me

when I return to pass again
she’s no longer standing
but on bended knee
she digs the soil
removing weeds that dare to try
sneaking past her eagle’s eye

this time
I do not speak
for I’m in awe,
somewhat ashamed
of how I suffer in like endeavor

for I am younger than she,
yet will not endure such misery

What a lovely picture you've presented in my minds eye ... vivid imagery Virginia. I've admired similar scenes as well, wishing I had the "green thumb" myself. Very nicely written!

Best wishes,
/Kit

This is the first time in all the dreary winter that I have felt perhaps spring will be brighter. I could see her...and am ashamed to say, I, neither, would endure such misery. But then again...maybe this spring! Thank you for this!
