Listening to every heart

Come, Tomorrow

things happen

in my quiet
right now,
I look over
my left shoulder
through the blinds
at the cottonwood
left behind
when the house
was built in the
very early 60's

bare of limb
and bared of bark
where the squirrels
wrested away
nourishment this
long winter,
I examine from my
warm room
and comfortable chair
the many branches
reaching out there
under the leaden gray sky…

each branch having begun
as a twig of hope,
reaching…
waiting for the coming
of the morrow,
when they would hold,
under the turning roof
of azure and cobalt,
a green sprout of leaf,
a young robin
trying its wing,
and clinging to the rain
as it dripped on by

its broad base
the playground of
squirrels,
a harbor of food
for the redheaded
woodpecker,
finch and 'jay, who
also find their way
to play among
its leaves

come, tomorrow,
when growth of green
will bring promise
of the fall,
heavy laden of leaf
and berry,
cascading soft snow
in June's sunlight,
lending branch to new birth,
giving fresh worth
as staunch its root
in God's good earth

things happen

on the morrow
when I look out again
on a season of change
alone
I will view the
cottonwood, knowing,
knowing

things happen

come tomorrow

this speaks of hope and spring love it

Don't ever give in, if you do you've lost everything you've ever had and everything you hope to gain, but if you carry on your already winning.

Eqxuisite writing
The hope of tommorow
And the unknown promise of joy
This is so beautifully written
And speaks of my heart

i believe this is my favorite work of yours thus far, SunshinyOne.... it is a perfect picture..... so well done in flow, imagery... succinct, with a pull on the emotions... a truly awesome read.... i love the image of the robin "trying" wings..... so lovely, so real, so human, so full of truth, retrospect, future, all of it...

it's very good.

thank you for allowing me the pleasure of reading this.

Everything is so unreal
My mind is in a state of confusion
But I can't deny the way I feel

Sunshine, the right piece to greet the beginning of spring.

I don't know the protocal here, so I will plunge in a bit. You let ings creep into the end a bit too much for my taste. Those a pet peeve of mine.

Thanks.

Beautiful promise of great things to come. Things will happen. Lovely!

A quarter of a century must pass, for the writer to understand what and why he writes.

There is indeed hope for all of us...if the squirrels don't get us first!

I'm sorry, Sunshine...that is no belittling of your poem, believe me...you know how I feel about your writing and this one is among the best...

still buddies?
