Farewell

Farewell my lovely dogwood flowers
And redbud’s purple lace
The pink and orange dawning sky
Is shining on my face

My tulips soon will open up
My meadow lark will sing
But I must leave you now upon
A giant silver wing

I’m going to where the sea winds blow
And sand’s beneath my feet
There is no springtime there, you know
There’s only summer heat

I’ll long to see the blossoming
Of life in field and wood
I’d take you with me, floral friends
If somehow Nature could

So I’ll just say good-bye for now
Your splendor will be missed
I’ll think about how lilies open
To a sunbeam’s kiss

How every dew drop glimmers
In the early morning sun
How twists of life have somehow made
The certain come undone

I fly away in eagle’s sky
To sands on distant shore
But you will never leave this garden
Place forever more

When I return, I’ll fill my soul
With fields of golden sheaf
Pastel of spring, the summer green
The crimson autumn leaf

And when the day arrives for me
To drift the heavenly sea
You’ll still be here, Oh, glorious blooms
To say farewell to me

so wave me on, flower fair,
then scent the early morning air
give gift of color, pink my cheek
write the words of which I speak....

Lady...applauding softly, as always, and filling with emotions, because....

What a description. The dew upon the petals glinting in the sun....

Oh how I long for spring. Excellent writing Liz!

Enjoyed this read, Liz. Nice tribute to the Seasons. Reminds me of my own departure from and then return to the drama of the Seasons. Though there were blossoms there too, it was never the same. Absence . . . and all of that.

~Elizabeth,...I needed this today. What a way to look at it, what lovely, lovely thoughts. To know that they will be there, to know that the cycle will continue. Thank you for sharing this mastered verse. *Peace.

Oh Elizabeth, my garden is my heart. Today I cleared away leaves from my flower bed and twigs and there they were--300 green tulip
leaves making their entrance for another lovely spring!!!!!! God bless you sweet lady.

Beautiful. I find gardening to be a way of healing and have already started working in mine.
Really nice write.

After years of searching, I have found I am nothing more, nothing less...I am in truth Just A Woman after all.

Beautiful, Elizabeth. Down here in Texas, the wild flowers are everywhere and so lovely. Pretty soon we will be going to Michigan and the snow will still be around! I know the tulips and other hardy flowers even bloom through the snow. Thank you for the spring picture and have a safe trip into summer. ME

I know you'll take spring with you wherever you travel... for your words send me soaring out of this cube and into nature's respite so many times... Just close your eyes... the blossoms and beauty will be there with you. *S* Beautiful, Elizabeth... as always. *S*

I just love your poetry, you need to write a book
