Your Touch

One touch and I was gone
You had broken through all my walls,
My barriers and defenses that kept my heart from knowing joy.
With that touch you changed my life and all that I would become.

That which I worked so hard to build suddenly came crashing down

I was a dead man among the living knowing neither love nor hate.
I as I walked my path in loneliness I thought I new my fate.
But you changed all that with one touch of your hand.

As people sought to change what I was I put up a front
I would turn on those who came to close

I never knew what life was like, I never even cared.
But then you came along and your touch you shared.
The chains about my soul were shattered

I can now walk among the living
Now I may begin to live, to love, to feel again
All because of that one touch

Welcome Lone Wolf! Isn't it strange how one word, one look, one something can change our outlook on life? Wonderful writing and thank you for sharing it with us.

This poem captures the essence of it...the power of one touch to a special someone given at the right time can move mountains...and bring the dead back to life (emotionally and spriritually speaking...that is). Thank you for sharing!
