In the stillness of the night
I could hear the whisper'n wind
As it rustled through the leaves
And brushed warmth upon my face

It beckoned me to listen
To the calmness it imposed
To help lay my mind at rest
As I aimlessly wandered

Calls of the night became heard
As the crickets sang their tune
In harmony with the wind
and waves rolling on the shore

The wind encompassed me
The stillness over came me
Bringing quiet to my soul
In the stillness of the night

WhtDove - ah yes, the stillness of the night. Many thoughts have I pondered in this stillness, and some answers derived. The night stillness, one of my most favorite.

Thanks Sharon

JM glad it could have that affect, especially before bedtime. Thanks!

Bill, I'm dreaming of that summer night. LOL
I love those moments as well, when you can sit in the stillness and ponder. Thank you Bill!

When all my children were little, the peace of night stillness calmed and inspired me. Lovely poem...Hearing the crickets is like taking time to smell the flowers.

Thanks for sharing, this medicine for the soul. Beautifully expressed!

You're making me wish for summer Rebecca
I love sitting out, late at night, lisening to the waterfall and crickets, even the trains, off in the distance, add to the serenity
Very nicely written

Beautiful and tranquil... Now if my co-workers have to listen to my lousy rendition of "I've got a peaceful, easy feeling" they'll have you to blame! LOL Well done, Dovey!
